| MISSION
STATEMENT The educational mission of St. Francis Borgia Parish is to communicate God's love, develop strong and active faith, and inspire all to learn. |
| ENROLLMENT There are presently 408 students enrolled in the school, grades PreK - 8, with an average pupil/teacher ratio of 22:1. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race or economic status, however St. Francis Borgia Grade School is only open to children of parishioners of St. Francis Borgia Parish. |
| ACCREDITATION St. Francis Borgia Grade School is fully accredited by the Missouri Chapter of the National Federation of Nonpublic Schools State Accrediting Association, and is a member in good standing of the National Catholic Education Association. |
| FACILITIES St. Francis Borgia Grade School originated in 1842 as a parish school. The parish remains dedicated to maintaining exceptional facilities for quality Christian education. Not only odes every grade have dedicated classrooms, there are dedicated specialty rooms. Our computerized library houses more than 8,500 books. The technology lab consists of 28 fully-networked computers. Our campus also boasts a fully-equipped science lab, art room, band room, full-court gym, and stage production facilities. |
| RELIGION Being a Catholic school, religion permeates the entire curriculum. Our Catholic faith is a way of life, not just a subject that we teach. Students attend Mass and Para-liturgies regularly. They help plan these liturgies and serve actively in them. Sacramental preparation takes place in Grade 2 for Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist, and in Grade 8 for Confirmation. There is also an excellent Parish School of Religion program for Catholic students who live in the parish but attend the public school. |
| CURRICULUM In addition to Religion the curriculum includes: Language Arts: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Math, Art, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Library Skills, Computer Skills, Music: Vocal and Instrumental There is also an excellent library, fully equipped science lab, computer lab with Internet access, art room, full court gym, and stage production facilities. Two full-time learning specialists provide students individualized attention. In the 2005 Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), our students scored in the top 12% of schools nationwide. |
| MIDDLE SCHOOL The students in grades 6 - 8 are in Middle School within the school. Middle school students learn in an 8 block schedule. They have 4 classes each day, each running 90 minutes. |
